• Why New Orleans Is My Favorite City in the United States: Food, Jazz, History, and Hidden Gems

If I had to choose my favorite city in the United States, New Orleans would easily take the top spot. The only city I leave out of the discussion is New York City because that is where I am from, and I know I am incredibly biased. In my eyes, New York is in a category of its own. But if I remove hometown loyalty from the equation, New Orleans wins without much competition.

I have traveled to different places throughout the United States and every city has its own personality. Some stand out for their architecture, others for entertainment or scenery. New Orleans somehow combines all of those things while adding a soul that feels impossible to replicate. The city has a rhythm that you can almost feel while walking down the street.

The first time I visited New Orleans, I expected good food and fun nightlife because that is what everyone talks about. I did not expect to immediately feel connected to the city itself. It has character in every corner. From historic buildings and live music pouring out of restaurants to the energy of the people around you, New Orleans feels alive in a way that many cities do not.

After visiting twice already, I can confidently say this is one of the few places I want to return to every year.

New Orleans Has the Best Food I Have Had in the United States

Food is one of the main reasons New Orleans immediately climbed to the top of my list.

    Seatfood Etouffee
    Seatfood Etouffee

I love trying new dishes and experiencing different styles of cooking whenever I travel. In my opinion, New Orleans wins the debate for best food city in America by a mile.

Creole cuisine is packed with flavor. There is something special about the way spices, seafood, French influences, African influences, and Southern cooking all come together. The result is food that feels rich, comforting, and unforgettable.

No matter where you go in the city, there always seems to be something incredible waiting for you.

One thing I loved about New Orleans is that the city almost feels designed for people who enjoy eating. There are endless dishes to try:

    • Gumbo
    • Jambalaya
    • Po’boys
    • Crawfish étouffée
    • Beignets
    • Red beans and rice
    • Muffuletta sandwiches
    • Fresh seafood dishes

You could spend an entire week trying different foods and still barely scratch the surface.

Some cities have famous dishes that tourists try once and forget. New Orleans is different. I found myself thinking about meals days later.

The experience also goes beyond just the food itself. Many restaurants and cafés have live music performances happening while you eat. Having incredible food while listening to talented musicians creates an atmosphere that is difficult to beat.

Breakfast was one of my favorite parts of the trip and Café Beignet quickly became a must-visit spot. Starting the morning with fresh beignets and coffee felt like a perfect way to begin the day.

Jazz Is the Heartbeat of New Orleans

It is impossible to talk about New Orleans without mentioning jazz.

This city is considered the birthplace of jazz music and you can feel that history everywhere you go.

Even if someone is not a fan of jazz, I would still tell them to experience a live performance while visiting New Orleans.

There is a huge difference between hearing jazz through headphones and hearing it live while sitting in a restaurant or walking down the street.

Louis Armstrong Park in New Orleans

You can watch musicians completely lose themselves in their performances. There is passion in every note and every instrument. Seeing that level of energy and emotion in person stays with you long after the performance ends.

One of my favorite things about New Orleans is that live music does not feel reserved for special occasions.

You do not need expensive concert tickets.

You do not need to plan your entire day around an event.

You simply walk through the city and discover performers naturally.

Restaurants, bars, and street corners all become stages.

The city itself almost feels like one giant performance.

Walking Through History in Every Direction

New Orleans is one of the oldest and most fascinating cities in the United States.

Founded in 1718 by French colonists, the city has centuries of history layered into its streets and neighborhoods.

Walking around New Orleans feels different from walking through many modern American cities because the architecture tells stories.

You notice old buildings, balconies, churches, and landmarks that have survived generations of change.

There is also an interesting contrast throughout the city.

You can see old-world influences existing alongside modern restaurants, nightlife, and attractions.

It feels like the past and present are constantly interacting.

Of course, New Orleans has also faced many challenges throughout its history.

Its low elevation and heavy rainfall have made flooding a recurring issue. The city has continually adapted and rebuilt while maintaining its identity.

Another thing visitors should prepare for is the weather.

The heat can be intense, but the humidity is on another level.

If you visit during the summer months, expect to sweat a lot.

The weather can feel overwhelming if you are not used to it, so staying hydrated becomes important.

Bourbon Street Is Unlike Anywhere Else

If New Orleans has a center of gravity, Bourbon Street might be it.

Stretching across twelve blocks, Bourbon Street is one of the most recognizable streets in America.

During the day there is already energy in the area, but nighttime is when things truly come alive.

    Crowds fill the streets.

    Music plays from every direction.

    Street performers entertain tourists.

People move in and out of restaurants and bars.

There is constant movement and excitement.

Some people visit Bourbon Street purely for nightlife, while others go simply to experience the atmosphere.

Even if nightlife is not your thing, it is still worth seeing at least once.

There is something fascinating about standing there and watching everything happen around you.

It almost feels like stepping into another world.

Audubon Park Might Be One of the Most Beautiful Parks I Have Seen

As much as New Orleans is known for nightlife and food, there are also peaceful places where you can slow down.

Audubon Park became one of my favorite discoveries.

The park is beautiful and almost feels like stepping into a painting.

    Audubon Park
    Audubon Park

Walking through the park provides a completely different experience from the busy streets of the city.

The scenery is relaxing and there are plenty of places where you can sit and simply enjoy the surroundings.

What I loved most was how easy it was to forget that I was still in a major city.

You could spend an entire afternoon there and completely lose track of time.

Nearby is the Audubon Zoo, which is also worth visiting if you have extra time.

For families or anyone looking for something beyond food and nightlife, it makes for a great experience.

Exploring Art and Bookstores in New Orleans

New Orleans also surprised me with its artistic side.

The New Orleans Museum of Art is worth visiting even before stepping inside because the surrounding area is scenic and peaceful.

Art lovers can spend hours exploring exhibits while enjoying the beauty around the museum grounds.

Another place that stood out to me was Baldwin & Co., a coffee shop and bookstore combination that became one of my favorite stops.

There is something comforting about discovering local bookstores while traveling.

Baldwin & Co. had a welcoming atmosphere and felt like the kind of place where you could spend hours reading or relaxing.

If you visit, signing up for their recommendation newsletter is worth considering.

The Sazerac House Is an Underrated Experience

One attraction that deserves much more attention is The Sazerac House.

    The best part?

    It is free.

You only need to reserve a spot beforehand.

The experience combines history, storytelling, and cocktail culture in a way that feels surprisingly engaging.

Visitors learn how the Sazerac became the official cocktail of New Orleans while getting a deeper understanding of the city’s history.

You can also sample drinks throughout the experience, which adds another layer of fun.

Even for someone who is not deeply interested in cocktails, it is still worth visiting.

Why I Keep Wanting to Return to New Orleans

I have now visited New Orleans twice, and every visit somehow made me appreciate the city even more.

Usually after visiting somewhere once, I feel satisfied and move on to planning another destination.

    New Orleans is different.

The city feels like there is always something left to discover.

Maybe it is a restaurant you missed.

Maybe it is another jazz performance hidden inside a small venue.

Maybe it is a neighborhood you never explored.

The food alone is enough reason to come back, but New Orleans offers far more than great meals.

It has history, music, culture, nightlife, art, and unforgettable energy.

Whether you are someone who loves food, history, live music, nature, or simply exploring cities with personality, New Orleans offers something memorable.

There is a reason people from all over the world continue to visit the Crescent City.

After experiencing it myself, I completely understand why.

  • My Trip to Vancouver, Canada: The Parks, Hikes, and Views That Made Me Want to Go Back

Some places leave a good impression, and then there are places that completely surprise you and stay with you long after you leave. Vancouver, Canada was one of those places for me. I had heard plenty of good things before visiting. People talked about the mountain views, beautiful parks, outdoor activities, and laid-back atmosphere, but actually being there felt completely different.

The thing that stood out immediately was how connected the city feels to nature. You can be surrounded by a modern city one moment and then find yourself standing in a forest, hiking through mountains, or staring at ocean views shortly after. There are not many places that manage to blend urban life and natural beauty so seamlessly.

After spending time exploring the city, hiking some incredible trails, and visiting several well-known attractions, Vancouver ended up becoming one of my favorite places I have traveled to. It was the kind of trip where every day seemed to offer something memorable.

If you are thinking about traveling to Vancouver and wondering whether it is worth visiting, my answer is easy: absolutely.

Tunnel Bluffs Was Difficult But Completely Worth It

One of the highlights of my trip was hiking Tunnel Bluffs. Before going, I had seen pictures online and thought the view looked impressive, but pictures really do not do it justice.

The hike itself is not easy. If you are not used to hiking trails with elevation gain, you will definitely feel it. There were several moments where I started questioning why I thought climbing uphill for miles sounded like a good idea. The trail keeps challenging you and demands some effort.

    Tunnel Bluffs
    Tunnel Bluffs hike

But that is also what makes reaching the top feel so rewarding.

Once I finally reached the viewpoint, I completely forgot how tired I was. Standing there and looking out over Howe Sound was one of those moments where you just stop and appreciate where you are.

The mountains surrounded the water, and the view stretched for what felt like forever. Everything looked peaceful and almost unreal.

There were people sitting on rocks just taking in the scenery, and I completely understood why. It became one of those travel moments where you stop thinking about schedules, plans, or anything else and simply enjoy being present.

Tunnel Bluffs was difficult, but I would hike it again without hesitation because the view made every step worth it.

Lynn Headwaters Regional Park Had an Amazing Waterfall

Another place I absolutely loved was Lynn Headwaters Regional Park.

The thing I noticed immediately was how different it felt from Tunnel Bluffs. Instead of mountain viewpoints and elevation climbs, this area felt like stepping into a quiet forest escape.

Tall trees surrounded the trails, and the sounds of water running nearby created an incredibly relaxing atmosphere.

One of the highlights for me was reaching the waterfall. Seeing water rushing through the rocks while surrounded by dense forest made the hike feel even more rewarding.

    Lynn Headwaters Regional Park
    Lynn Headwaters Regional Park Waterfall

Waterfalls always seem to add something special to a hiking experience, and this one definitely delivered.

The hike itself felt manageable and enjoyable, making it something that many visitors could appreciate regardless of hiking experience.

I also liked how peaceful the entire area felt. Despite Vancouver being a busy city, places like Lynn Headwaters make it easy to forget that you are near an urban area at all.

For anyone visiting Vancouver and wanting to experience nature without going too far, Lynn Headwaters Regional Park should absolutely be on your list.

Stanley Park Was a Breath of Fresh Air

Stanley Park is one of Vancouver’s most famous attractions, and after visiting, I completely understood why.

There are some popular destinations that become so hyped that they end up feeling disappointing in real life. Stanley Park was not one of them.

The first thing I noticed was how refreshing it felt just walking through the area.

The park is massive and gives visitors plenty to explore. Walking paths stretch through trees, ocean views appear around corners, and there are endless places where you can stop and relax.

It felt like an escape from city noise while still being right next to downtown Vancouver.

Sometimes while traveling, the most memorable experiences are not always huge attractions or adrenaline-filled activities.

Sometimes it is simply sitting on a bench, walking along a path, feeling the breeze, and enjoying the atmosphere.

That is exactly how Stanley Park felt.

It was peaceful and relaxing while also offering plenty to see and do.

I could easily spend an entire day there without getting bored.

    Queen Elizabeth Park Was Beautiful

Another place that really impressed me was Queen Elizabeth Park.

The park felt different from Stanley Park because it offered a more carefully designed and landscaped experience rather than a rugged natural setting.

Everything looked incredibly well maintained and beautiful.

Walking through the gardens felt relaxing, and there seemed to be something interesting around nearly every corner.

    Queen Elizabeth Park
    Queen Elizabeth Park

The park also has several activities and attractions, making it more than just a place to walk around.

Whether you want to enjoy gardens, take pictures, sit and relax, or simply enjoy the scenery, there is plenty to keep you busy.

One of my favorite things about Vancouver overall was how every park seemed to have its own personality.

    They never felt repetitive.

    Each location brought something unique.

Queen Elizabeth Park added another memorable experience to my trip and quickly became one of my favorite spots.

Lynn Suspension Bridge Felt Like a Hidden Gem

One place that pleasantly surprised me was Lynn Suspension Bridge.

Many travelers immediately think about Vancouver’s famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, but Lynn Suspension Bridge ended up becoming one of my favorite discoveries.

    Lynn Suspension Bridge
    Lynn Suspension Bridge

    The best part?

    It is free.

That alone already makes it appealing, but what really makes it special is the overall experience.

Walking across the suspension bridge was fun and added a little excitement without feeling intimidating.

The surrounding area also includes an easy and enjoyable hike, making it perfect if you want something relaxing without committing to a difficult trail.

The scenery around the bridge was beautiful, and the forest environment gave everything a peaceful feeling.

It felt like one of those places where you accidentally discover something better than expected.

Hidden gems like that often become some of the most memorable parts of a trip.

Granville Island Public Market Was the Perfect Place to Relax

No trip feels complete without finding places to slow down, eat good food, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Granville Island Public Market ended up being one of those places for me.

There was something enjoyable about simply walking around and taking everything in.

You could browse different vendors, find unique souvenirs, and discover food options everywhere.

    Granville Island
    Granville Island

The atmosphere felt lively but not overwhelming.

Some places can feel crowded and stressful, but Granville Island somehow felt relaxed despite being popular.

I spent time looking through different shops and enjoying the variety of things available.

It is also a great place if you want to pick up something memorable from your trip instead of buying generic souvenirs.

And of course, finding food while traveling is always important.

There were so many options that it almost felt impossible to choose.

Why Vancouver Became One of My Favorite Places I Have Ever Visited

By the end of my trip, I realized something.

Vancouver did not become one of my favorite destinations because of one specific attraction.

It was the combination of everything.

The city gives you mountain views, forests, waterfalls, parks, hiking trails, and relaxing places all in one destination.

You can spend one day doing a difficult hike like Tunnel Bluffs and then spend the next day walking through parks or relaxing at Granville Island.

Very few places feel like they offer that much variety.

What also stood out was how the city never felt overwhelming despite having so much to do.

    Everything felt balanced.

You could stay busy exploring or slow down and simply enjoy the scenery.

That flexibility made the trip even better.

I left Vancouver already thinking about returning someday, and honestly, I cannot say that about every place I travel to.

Some trips are enjoyable while they last and then become memories.

    Vancouver felt different.

It became one of those destinations that makes you start planning your return before you have even gone home.

If you are looking for a place filled with incredible nature, unforgettable hikes, beautiful parks, and experiences that leave a lasting impression, Vancouver deserves a spot on your travel list.

I cannot wait to go back.

  • Discover First Cup Cafe: A Hidden Gem in Astoria Queens

It is hard not to agree that New York City is the greatest city in the world. But I would not recommend it when it is freezing cold. I found myself in Queens and in need of a hot cop of coffee. Which led me to going to First Cup Cafe in Astoria Queens.

It is a beautiful cafe and the artwork inside the store is incredible. You won’t find another cafe like it anywhere. On this cold and chilly day, I opted for an almond croissant and a Biscoff latte. I had to get the Biscoff latte after seeing it as an option on the menu.

The almond croissant was perfect and one of the better croissants I’ve had. It had been a while since I had a really good almond croissant. This renewed my love for this pastry all over again.

Almond croissant and a Biscoff latte at the First Cup Cafe
Almond croissant and a Biscoff latte

The Biscoff latte was honestly not bad. It tasted like Biscoff which was what I was going for. And it wasn’t too much. I have never had one before so I don’t know how it is or isn’t supposed to taste. All I know is that I enjoyed it and would get it again.

I don’t find myself in Queens often. Now, I think I would visit just to go back to this cafe. I want to try other stuff from their menu. There is also a bookshop nearby as well as a museum so there is a ton to do.

Getting to Queens is always a hassle if you visiting from another borough. But if you find yourself in Astoria, then First Cup Cafe is worth going to. It is a local gem and the coffee and pastries are fresh and delicious.

I have to make a day trip to Queens and explore a bunch of restaurants int he future. That will also give me an excuse to revisit this place. The food scene in Queens is top notch. I regret not exploring it as much as I should have.

My sweet tooth always takes me to a nearby cafe. And I am glad that on this gloomy and cloudy day, I found this cafe. I am adding this to my list of favorite cafes. Until my next adventure, happy exploring!

  • Christmas in New York City

Merry Christmas! I wanted to write about Christmas and what it feels lime in New York City. It is the only place I have experienced Christmas so I might be a little biased when I say nothing beats Christmas in New York City!

There is so much to do in New York City during the winter. The decorations are all over the city and stores go all out with Christmas decorations. There are popup stores and bars that are Christmas themed and tons of great hot chocolate places to visit and try!

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree New York City
    Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Nothing tops visiting the Christmas Tree at the Rockefeller Center. I have seen this tree more times than I can count and never get tired of it. This year, the tree arrived from East Greenbush, New York on November 8th.

There are other places to visit like Saks Fifth Ave which is right next to Rockefeller Center. It is also lit up with Christmas decorations and it will be crowed with tons of tourists. You can also visit Macy’s on 34th street and see their Christmas themed windows.

If you want to be active, then you can ice skate in a few places. Bryant Park has an Ince skating rink as well as holiday shops. It is the perfect place to get a hot chocolate and Times Square is a few minutes away by foot.

Central Park and the Rockefeller Center both also have ice rinks. If you do go, dress warmly because New York City is cold in the winter.

    Saks Fifth Ave

Maybe being active in the cold isn’t what you’re looking for. In that case, there are tons of shows to see in New York City. There is the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Rockettes at the Radio City Music Hall which is an annual holiday tradition.

The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center is the perfect place to see classical ballet. And Broadway has a few holiday themed shows if that is what you are prefer.

Lastly, I would recommend visiting the Christmas Tree at Washington Square Park. While it isn’t as big as the Rockefeller Center tree, it it still a sight to behold. And if you are willing to travel a bit, then you can’t miss out on the Holiday Train Show at the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

Christmas in New York City is busy and hectic but also beautiful and breathtaking. There is a ton of things to see and do. Whether you are a foodie or like sightseeing, New York City has something for you. If you don’t mind the cold that is. Happy Holidays!

  • Tiramisu Craze: Cafe 2BY2 in NYC Review

It feels like everyone is getting into the Tiramisu craze. And it should come as no surprise that a tiramisu themed cafe has recently opened up in New York City. Which is why we had to head to Cafe 2BY2 to try it!

I have loved tiramisu for a while now and when I saw that a tiramisu themed cafe was opening in Downtown Manhattan, I had to try it.

The cafe has great aesthetics and gives out nice vibes. Many cafes tend to go all out and ruin the calming setting that customers enjoy. At Cafe 2By2, it feels like everything has been thought out.

I decided to order the Magnum Crispy Chocolate Tiramisu, one of the 16 tiramisu’s they offer. I did not even know there were that many different tiramisu options!

Before I dive into my dessert, I have to mention that this is cafe infuses East Asian culinary trends into tiramisu. A tiramisu can come in a couple different forms but it usually is a coffee soaked dessert. Some might include ladyfingers while others include layers.

If you do decide to try this place out, I have to warn you that the cakes are not cheap. And the coffee drinks are also interesting. I got a guava flavored coffee and it was as bad as it sounded.

    Tiramisu cafe nye
    Magnum Crispy Chocolate Tiramisu

The Magnum Crispy Chocolate Tiramisu was really good and I was impressed by the quality of the tiramisu. You could tell that this wasn’t just another cafe focused on the newest trend. it was easily one of the best tiramisu’s I’ve had.

Unfortunately, I didn’t try any other tiramisu. That is way too much sugar and I wasn’t going to torture myself.

That does mean that I will be back at this cafe and try all the other flavors. You can check out this article that did try all 16 tiramisu. I can’t imagine what the bill was like!

If you happen to be near Union Square and have a craving for Tiramisu, then this is place worth checking out. I am always on the lookout for great Tiramisu places and this one is as good as advertised!

  • Exploring Tokyo: Must-Visit Places and Hidden Gems: Japan Day Two

Traveling to Japan is fun but the flight to Japan is 14 hours long. I have a hard time falling asleep on airplanes and I was waking up early as a result. Waking up at around 5 AM is not the worst thing. Yes, there is not much to do but convenience stores, better known as konbini’s, are open 24/7.

I would start my day with a light breakfast from the a nearby konbini. After that, I would walk around and explore nearby places. On this day, it was raining lightly but it didn’t stop me. I decided to walk to Tokyo Station, the busiest station in Japan. It has tons of shops and is easy to get lost here.

I arrived there before most stores opened. The good news was that there weren’t many people there. But it also meant I couldn’t go to most of the shops. Ultimately, I decided to go to a Starbucks because it was open.

    Japan Trip Tokyo Station
Pikachu display at the Pokemon Store

Normally I would go to a local cafe but finding one in Tokyo Station is almost impossible. This was my first time in Tokyo Station and I was amazed at how much it had to offer. There are shops of all kinds and so much food. This place is ridiculously huge and I would recommend using your phone for directions or you will get lost.

After this, I headed back home before heading out again. Like my first day, I found myself around Ginza. While I stayed there for about three days, I ended up walking around this area a ton. Whenever I travel, I love to explore the neighborhood I am in.

This was my first time staying in Ginza here and I discovered a lot of nearby places. And today, I had a specific place in mind. While on Instagram, I saw a reel for a restaurant called A Happy Pancake Ginza. One thing you need to know about me is that I have a sweet tooth. I love trying sweets and I had high hopes for this place.

    Japan Trip
    Tiramisu Pancake

If you want to go to A Happy Pancake Ginza, make sure you make a reservation. I did not do enough research and ended having to wait to be seated. Make a reservation because this place is popular and busy. I went before it even opened and it still had a long wait.

After walking around for an hour, I received an email and headed back there. To get to the restaurant, you have to take an elevator that fits about six to eight people. The place itself is big and I the service is great. I got the tiramisu pancakes and a coffee.

The pancakes were soft and creamy and they were the best pancakes I ever had. The portion size is big and it will cost around 10 to 15 U.S dollars. The coffee was not good and I couldn’t get myself to finish it. This was an amazing experience and I am glad that I tried it.

After heading back, I decided to go back to Tokyo Station and visit the Pokemon Store. If was a cool experience and I loved the Tokyo Station themed merchandise.

Next, I decided to visit a neighborhood that I hadn’t been to before; Asakusa. This is a historical district in Tokyo and has a ton of shops and restaurants. There are also temples like the Senso-ji Temple. You can also see the Tokyo Skytree from here and even walk to it.

    Curry in Asakusa

There were tons of shops and it was crowded. Going early or late is the best time to avoid the crowds. But I was here and I wanted to take in all the sights. Unfortunately for me, it was still raining. After walking for a while, I found a small restaurant and got some curry.

Asakusa was gorgeous and I need to stay around that area to fully explore it. After visiting the beautiful Senso-ji Temple, I decided to call it a day.

This was my second full day and I ended up exploring three districts. To get to Asakusa, I had to take the train. Tokyo Station and Ginza are within walking distance which is why I need going back and forth. I explored a ton of shops and tried popular and local food.

When you are in Japan, I recommend walking around and discovering local shops and restaurants. These have been the places that really stuck out to me. The food is almost always going to be amazing and it is not going to cost you much.

But do watch your wallet because it adds up quickly. Between shopping and eating and trying new stuff, it goes by fast.

After my second full day in Tokyo, I was ready to head to my favorite destination; Kyoto.

  • Exploring Japan Day One: My Itinerary and Food Adventures

In late October, I visited Japan for the second time in my life. I had been to Japan the prior year and knew that I was going to come back. After getting a taste of Japan, I had to have more. And this time, I had an itinerary that would show me a lot more of Japan.

I arrived to Japan on October 23rd but after getting very little sleep on the airplane, I needed to sleep. My flight was to Haneda airport and it was easy to get to my hotel from there. I was staying in Ginza this time, a popular shopping distract with expensive brands.

    Japan Riverside

After checking in my hotel, which was fast and easy, I went back out to the Konbini. They are the common terms for convenient stores in Japan and got some onigiri and an egg sandwich. Konbini are one of m favorite things about Japan because the food is amazing and it is very affordable.

The next day, I ended up waking up at around 3:30 AM. After talking to friends and family, I went outside at around 5:40 AM and decided to explore the surrounding area. While I have been to Ginza before, I didn’t get to explore most of it.

It was a peaceful walk and I walked to the riverside and walked along it. In Japan, restaurants usually open at 11 AM. Cafes open earlier and it a great place to kill time until then. After walking around for a bit, I finally arrived to Tsukiji market.

This was my destination for my first official day. The Tsukiji market has tons of vendors set up on the streets. It can get quite packed with tourists and locals. Being there early meant that I got first dibs and it was easy to walk around.

I tried a bunch of different foods from different vendors and was overwhelmed by all the shops. These stands sell skewers, onigiri, sushi, wagyu beef, and so much for. I decided to try a tamogoyaki which is a rolled Japanese omelet on a stick. I would have preferred more seasoning but it got better with each bite.

After this, I went back to my hotel and decided to rest up and charge my phone. If you are traveling to Japan, make sure you have a portable charger. After this, I went to my next destination, Ginza Six, a luxurious shopping distract. It has restaurants in the basement, a ton of stores to buy clothes, and an amazing rooftop. I was here for the later and I am glad that I found this gem.

Ginza Six is gorgeous and if you like shopping, then you’ll love it. But I went straight to the roof and had a nice view of the city. You can see Tokyo Tower from here and I ended up coming here a few times. I also went to the restaurants and had to try out some of the desserts.

    Ginza Six rooftop

For lunch, I ended up leaving Ginza and traveling to Jimbocho, Tokyo’s book district. If you love books, then this is where you should head to. Unfortunately for me, it started raining as soon as I got there. So, after a short walk through, I decided to grab lunch nearby.

I came across this restaurant called & Sri Lanka Tokyo and got a curry that warmed me up. It was the right amount of spicy and I had to add it to my list of favorite restaurants. I have to go back and try it again.

Curry at & Sri Lanka Tokyo
    & Sri Lanka Tokyo Curry

I ended up heading back to my hotel and after resting up, I went back to Ginza Six. Tokyo is beautiful all around but seeing it at night is another sight. If you are around that area, make sure to visit the rooftop. Not many people know about it and it’s free.

My first day was full of amazing food and great sights. I explored a bunch and got to try some amazing new dishes. After over a year of being away, I was back and I was going to make the most of it. Day one was perfect it was just the beginning. Tune in for my second full day in Japan in the coming days!

  • Welcome to Sip Snack See!

Welcome to the first post on Sip Snack See. This is the first of hopefully many blog posts about food and travels.

I love trying new restaurants and cafes as well as traveling when I can. And in the coming weeks, I will be sharing a ton of my recommendations and experiences.

The goal is to share experiences with everyone so you can try these places for yourself. And while I don’t consider myself as well traveled as other travel bloggers, I have been to some amazing places over the past few years.

I reside in the United States so you will see a lot more posts about places in the United States. But I do like to travel to other countries such as Japan and I intend to go back soon.

Every week, I want to go to a new cafe or restaurant and try it out and see how it is. I will be judging its vibes and the food and drinks. You should know that I am a pescatarian so I won’t be trying any meat dishes.

Maybe when the blog is popular and has other contributors, you will see posts about chicken but until then, you most likely won’t.

The main goal of this blog is to share some of my amazing experiences with all of you. This will also make me try new restaurants and visit different attractions and that is always a win.

There will be no AI posts and all of them will be written by a human. While I am not against AI, I do want these to be personal anecdotes and experiences that someone had.

Be on the lookout for a few posts in the coming months as I share some of my favorite travels so far as well as Christmas related articles. See you soon!
